How to get rid of sand burrs?

Q&A

I’m visiting my folks in Hutchinson this weekend. The neighbor’s landscape service’s commercial mower tosses sand burrs into my parent’s yard, which now means they(my parents) have sand burrs in their Bermuda lawn. What product should they use to kill the sand burrs and when should it be applied? Thanks. - KS TX GRL -

This link from a Texas A & M article addresses the problem of sand burrs in turf grass. http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/archives/parsons/turf/grassbur.html

Not to confuse the issue but what are you calling sandbur? There are often times two plants with common name of sandbur. One is a grassy like plant and the other is a broadleaf weed. This one lays on the ground and has small yellow flowers and then forms the burr. People also call this puncture vine. So is your’s the gassy type or the puncture vine. They would have completely different control options. The grassy sandbur is the hardest to control as it is not a broadleaf weed but grass-like in structure.
