7 months ago New Guinea impatiens diseases? Q&A Are New Guinea impatiens susceptible to the same diseases as regular impatiens this year? - George - Comments Dennis Patton 7 months ago New Guinea impatiens have different genetics and are not bothered by the issue that was covered in the paper last week. Unfortunately that article should not have been run in our local paper as we do not have this problem so impatiens can still be planted and are recommended for KC gardens. One other comment - New Guinea impatiens are not an easy substitution for regular impatiens. New Guinea impatiens do not like our heavy clay soils and do best in pot culture. They are not highly recommended for in ground plantings. Dennis - Johnson County Extension Sign in with Facebook to comment. Copyright 2013 The Kansas City Star. All rights reserved.
