Poisonous plant poster?

Q&A

Do you know where I can get a poster showing photos of poisonous plants typical to the greater KC area? My kids and I live on acreage in KCK and we’re having trouble identifying various poisonous plants in their different forms (poison ivy, poison sumac, poison oak, etc.). We keep getting infected!!! - Genevieve -

I know of no poster for the KC area? The good news is we only have a few plants to be concerned with. I will probably miss a few but here are the main ones to be concerned with. Poison Ivy Yews (only if you eat)

People will argue with me but the local area does not have Poison Oak or Poison Sumac.

Also look out for Virginia Creeper. Many people are allergic to it as if it was poison ivy. My husband is way more sensitive to it than he is to poison ivy - to the point that he got blood poisoning a couple of years ago from the rash. While it’s pretty, Virginia Creeper can be a menace in more ways than one!
