Rieger begonia in garden?

Q&A

I would like to know if I can put my begonia outside in my flower bed. It doesn’t seem to be doing very well in the house. - Marlene -

Your begonia can be moved outside but I would keep it in a protective location out of the direct sun. The warm rays of the sun will burn the tender leaves. Slowly you could move into more light. Unfortunately Rieger begonias are not the best suited for our climate. It is hard to keep them blooming as they do not like the heat. This is a plant that often looks best in the pot but seldom survives and blooms all season long. On the other hand it is really to high light requiring to be grown as a houseplant.
