Rose pruning - Don't do it now

Tip of the Week

The Johnson County Extension office has been receiving a number of calls about pruning roses now for the winter. Extension does not recommend to prune roses in the fall. The best time to prune roses is mid to late March through early April. Fall pruning could result in winter injury to the cane. The only pruning done now on roses would be remove a damaged or hazardous cane. Dennis - Johnson County Extension
