Q&A

We have a small spruce (about 5’ tall) which is now dead about 2’ down from the top. Should we go ahead and dig it out - or is there any chance it will revive. Obviously, the condition is due to the drought. Thanks. - Foy -

   Here is the problem - now that the top has died the tree will never look very good. It will always be misshaped. My recommendation for the future would be to replant. You can cut off the dead part but will the tree really look that good? A spruce will never again develop that “A” shape structure that makes them so pretty.
