I've got some big holes in my garden where some perennials died off and now I can't wait to plug them with mums. Are we getting near the traditional season when mums go on sale and I can start planting? Is there any harm in starting early? Thanks!

Mums
The St Peters School is in the middle of their Annual Fall Flower sale. You can purchase mums and tulip/iris/daffodil bulbs for FREE delivery to your door ( in the KC metro area). Go to http://www.stpetersflowers.org to look at the selection and purchase online.
Mums the Word
It is mum season as they have started to pop up on the market. The only problem with early planting is that heat can shorten the bloom time. This has been a mild summer so that should not be as much as a factor.
Enjoy, if the budget allows maybe an early planting and then a follow up crop in a month or so.
