We have a spot where a tree would look good. It would get morning sun, some southern sun and filtered afternoon sun. We like the looks of a purple beech (on the Nelson grounds) and a bald cypress (on the Discovery Center grounds). Do you recommend one over the other? Thanks.

Beech or Baldcypress
For this area, I would recommend the Baldcypress. Why? The Beech does not tolerate compacted or poor draining soil. Also, it is not tolerant of excessive heat. The summer we have enjoyed is not the norm. Baldcypress is a great tree with four season interest. That would be my pick.
