I have tried many things to get rid of the moles in our yard. The only thing that has worked is to pop them out of the ground with a shovel, but that is not a good solution to control them. What is the best way to get rid of them for good?

We used the harpoon type gizmo shown in the article, and it worked within a few days. The good news is, moles are very territorial and will even kick their own offspring off their territory! One or two can do a tremendous amount of damage, so chances are you won't have to trap any more than that.
