Hi,
I was wondering if the electronic soil testing kits are worth the cost. Sending them to a school or professional would be more accurate but thought if they do what they claim I would be able to monitor the area better. This will be used for a small home vegetable garden and lawn.

Soil Testing Kits
It is our considered opinion that a soil test done by your County Extension Service every 4 to 6 years will give you more accurate results and allow you to monitor the soil in your vegetable garden more effectively.

The kits can be useful if proper samples are taken. We recommend taking a small slice of soil from 6 to 10 different areas of the bed and mixing them together for a more uniform result.
Test kits are very reasonable from some of the Extension Universities. A link to Purdue is below.
