- About Me:
I’ve been a Kansas City-area gardener for more than 20 years. I’m not yet an expert gardener – but I know plenty of people who are, and that’s the next best thing.
I’m the author of “Flower Gardening in Kansas City,” a book that profiles more than 20 of the area’s best gardeners, who offer their secrets and tips. The book was fun to write and hopefully useful to you, but it was also a great excuse to tour a lot of wonderful gardens with some very pleasant gardeners. In fact, few people are as generous as good gardeners.
My own Shawnee garden is probably like a lot of yours. It’s a work in progress. Each year I try to make it a little bit better and keep from backsliding. My current gardening challenge: Sharing the backyard with an outdoor mutt whose paws are the size of Bigfoot. But my wife, Cindy, is stuck on him so it’s up to me to deal with the collateral damage.
In my day job I’m local government editor at The Kansas City Star, but I still have time to host kcgardens. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
